Curriculum Planning
Syllabus
The main structure of the syllabus revolves around multicultural concepts. According to students’ levels we have selected a variety of teaching materials including picture books, commercials, textbooks, readers, news and even movies. Through discussion based on diverse issues and activities, we have reformed the experimental courses. We use real and close-to-life materials for multicultural education. Teachers may improvise with selected teaching materials which go with the different topics they choose.
Under the multicultural framework, courses can be categorized into four main topics with eight subsidiary goals which are scheduled to be achieved within a semester. The teachers discuss beforehand on the selection of teaching materials through social networking websites and reach a consensus on teaching goals. Besides this, teachers may add more contents and units according to their individual needs. On social networking sites, teachers can share their activities in class as well as various approaches to assess students’ achievements. This way, we can benefit teachers and students by constantly refining teaching methods and the syllabus.
